Highlands Centre for Healing

(formally Eureka Horse Wisdom)

Discover healing in a Nature Sanctuary filled with loving vibration

Reconnect with yourself, nature, and the nurturing energy of our animals and land

We invite you to escape to peace & calm

In the breathtaking expanses of the NSW Southern Highlands, Soo Woods has created a SANCTUARY and refuge—not just for the domesticated and wild beings who’ve found their way here, but also for souls like yours seeking safety, healing, and an authentic reconnection to your true self.

EXPERIENCE THE HEALING POWER OF HORSES

At the heart of this sanctuary is our remarkable herd of therapy HORSES. Each one carries a unique energy and wisdom, creating profound opportunities for connection, self-discovery, and healing. Whether through equine-assisted energy healing, gentle presence, or mindful interaction, these extraordinary sentient beings will guide you toward inner peace and resilience.

AN ALL ENCOMPASSING HEALING EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER

Set on 106 acres of peace filled land bordering the State Forest, Highlands Centre For Healing is a sanctuary where people are invited to slow down, reconnect, and return to themselves through nature-based healing.

In a world that moves fast and asks much of us, most guests arrive here feeling disconnected – from their bodies, their truth, and the natural rhythm that once supported them. Time with the land, the horses and the wider natural environment offers a different way of being: quieter, more attuned and deeply restorative.

Our holistic approach supports healing across mind, body and soul, bringing together client-led, nature-based practices within a gentle, supportive and accepting environment. Whether through individual sessions or self-designed retreats, each experience is shaped to meet you where you are – supporting coherence, presence and the next authentic expression of who you truly are.

At Highlands Centre for Healing, we believe in the profound wisdom of nature and the gentle power of horses to transform lives. Nature’s rhythm slows us down, allowing stress to melt away, while our kind therapy horses guide you toward self-awareness and emotional balance. Together, they create a nurturing sanctuary for healing, connection, and renewal.

How you can experience the Highlands Centre For Healing

A person kneels next to another lying on a blanket, surrounded closely by four horses, some nuzzling the person on the ground. The scene is set outdoors with trees in the background.

Gift yourself a healing immersion unlike any other

Step into an environment that wraps peace around you on arrival! Our retreats offer time, space and gentle support to slow down, attune, and reconnect – with yourself, the land and, if you choose, the horses.

These retreats invite you into a quieter, slower way of being. Through individual or small group healing sessions, nature-based practices, or simply time to be, people find themselves returning to a gentle coherence and stepping into the next authentic expression of who they are.

Through healing with horses, nature walks, and natural modalities such as yoga, meditation, breathwork, sound baths, and EFT tapping, you are supported to nurture your well-being and restore your energy.

With or without the horses, your retreat unfolds at your own pace, creating space for deep restoration, insight, and embodied change — often more quickly than people expect.

WELLNESS RETREAT NSW

What people say about our wellness retreats

I arrived tired, exhausted and stressed. I have become lifted and renewed, more than I can imagine.

Danielle

A magical experience; one in which deeply buried feelings and emotion come up and the horses energies hold you. In the walking meditation I was drawn to an up-rooted tree. All I wanted to do was crawl into the dark tangled roots and stay there. The horses in the horse reiki coaxed me out of the pain and into the light.

Chantal

Welcome, I’m Soo!

I am deeply connected to this land and to the animals who share it. Together they shape the way I work – quietly, relationally and in response to what  is present in the moment.

For much of my early life, nature and animals were where I found safety, connection, and a sense of being met. Later, like many people, I spent years feeling disconnected from myself – living in cycles of stress, self-judgement, and coping patterns that no longer served me. What I didn’t yet understand was how deeply the body holds experience, and how even subtle moments from earlier life shape the way we show up and move through the world.

Over the past decade, I have immersed myself in trauma-aware practice, somatic and energy healing, and nature-based modalities. More importantly, I have lived this work – listening to my body, learning to soften out of survival, and allowing old patterns to release in their own time. What has emerged is not a ‘fixed’ version of myself, but a steadier, more present, and authentic way of being.

Today, my role is not to heal or fix others, but to hold a space where healing can occur naturally. Through attuned presence with the horses, the land, and the wider natural environment, I support people to return to coherence, to the wisdom of their bodies, and to the truth of who they are under the story.

You are not broken. Nothing needs fixing. This is an invitation to remember … and in the process, transform.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why horses? What do they offer in therapy that’s unique?
Horses read our energy and easily pick up on human emotions. They don’t judge, they just “get” you.

Their large guts and hearts are able to co-regulate our nervous systems and, as natural-born Reiki Masters, they are also able to offer energy healing.

Clinical research has shown that being in close proximity to horses changes human brain wave patterns and heart rate! It is also known that triggering the release of oxytocin, the trust hormone, can help induce feelings of optimism, increase self-esteem, and potentially also help people with mood disorders and PTSD. Plus, horses teach mutual respect, trust, and emotional intelligence, creating an environment for rapid self-learning.

Why would I want to join an outdoor group workshop?

Recent studies have consistently highlighted the therapeutic benefits of spending time in natural settings. Engaging with others in outdoor group activities doesn’t just offer a break from your busy lives; it actually promotes the release of beneficial endorphins and neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. These natural compounds play a crucial role in deepening our self-awareness, strengthening group bonds, and nurturing personal development.

We also know of the importance of coherence ~ a state where our nervous system is regulated, stable, and flexible. Numerous independent studies have shown that achieving a calmer, more coherent state fosters emotional stability and enhances cognitive functions. Experiences in nature support the development of coherence.

I've heard about wellness retreats, but I'm sceptical. Why should I give it a go?

It’s totally okay to feel that way. Our wellness retreats in Moss Vale, New South Wales aren’t just about “feeling good” for a few days (although that’s a bonus). They’re designed to create lasting positive change by providing you with tools that will last a lifetime.

We blend the raw beauty of nature, the transformative power of equine therapy, alternative therapies, and a community of like-minded individuals seeking growth and clarity.

It’s not just a retreat. It’s a reset.

Is this retreat supposed to replace my regular visits to the doctor or therapist?

Nope, not at all. Think of our retreats and equine therapy sessions as a complement to any medical or therapeutic advice you’re currently following. Our retreats and equine therapy sessions offer a fresh, holistic perspective on well-being, but always keep your medical specialist in the loop.

While Soo is a registered, qualified counsellor and trauma-trained somatic practitioner, she is not a medical specialist and does not diagnose, categorise, judge, advise, assess, or fix.
